Partnership for Schools (P4S) 2009: Uncovering Indonesia

Through homestay and pesantren (Islamic boarding shool) visits, American teachers got a rare glimpse of the daily life of diverse Indonesian families and had a chance to contribute to their host communities through their interactions with students and teachers at their host schools. These visits were designed to foster a meaningful people-to-people exchange, and the experience marked the beginning of warm friendships for all involved. At this time, we would like to invite both American teachers and Indonesian hosts to share some of your more enduring impressions, mutual discoveries, and new insights gained through your participation in the program.

Please use this posting to share your experiences from your time spent in Jogyakarta. We would like you to hear your most memorable moments and stories, and anything else you would like to share.

Now that the Partnership for Schools program has begun and you have been in-country for several days, we would like you to share your initial impressions on the experience. You could include your thoughts on the places you visited and the people you have met so far, as well as your impressions of daily life in Indonesia. Please feel free to respond to other people’s posts with questions and/or comments.

This weblog is a place where we can share our Indonesia travel experiences, post reflections and observations, discuss teaching insights and implications, and share resources.
